Equinox Corporation, New York, New York, November 20th 2003:

Equinox Corporation has been awarded a $730,000 Phase II SBIR contract from the Army/CECOM Night Vision Electronic Sensors Directorate of the Night Vision Laboratory, titled "Image Fusion of Intensified and Thermal IR for Night Vision". This award will allow the development of low power implementations of Equinox's unique images fusion algorithms.

This award will fund the development of ultra-low power electronic hardware that processes two image video streams, one for intensified imagery, one for thermal IR imagery to produce fused video imagery in real-time. The computational architecture designed in the Phase I of this project is based upon an efficient synergy between both algorithm and hardware design. Dual mode visible/thermal IR imagery is becoming more common for exploiting complementary phenomenology. Modular low-power image fusion electronics will enable mobile applications of this for the dismounted soldier including situational awareness driver vision enhancement, search and rescue, and law enforcement.

Since 1999 Equinox has been a leading provider of unique image fusion products to the US Military spanning algorithms, electronics hardware and sensor optics. Equinox has produced groundbreaking technology for providing fusion of thermal infrared and visible modalities to the dismounted soldier as well as to Naval, Aerial and Biometric systems. In polarimetry Equinox has unsurpassed expertise in many types of imaging systems. Equinox is currently developing a number of automatic target detection, tracking and recognition systems.
